How are You Building YOUR Brand?

As a professional, it is important that we consider our reputation very seriously. "Personal Branding" is an intricate element between being considered average and exceptional. For instance, what's the first word that comes to mind when you think of Jaime Foxx? Funny! Cindy Crawford? Supermodel! Tyra Banks? Mogul! They have each built their own personal brands and are easily recognizable and respected, not for their riches or fame, but because their brand speaks volume for their work. What is PERSONAL BRANDING? It is the total marketing package that we create to represent the tangible and intangible aspects of our personality, passions, work ethic, confidence and competencies. We must build our personal branding statement in the same way as celebrities. Once they have built their statement, we start to have expectations because we know their capabilities. The same goes for us. We must present who we are to the world!

As a professional coach, I often hear people saying they are not sure how to achieve such a lofty goal when they are simply too young or don't have enough contacts or just don't know what to do. It may seem like an overwhelming task, but of course, FAB is here to the rescue!

Before you can create a personal branding statement that accurately reflects your personal dressing style, personality, professional interests, ambition and goals, it is important that you are clear on those answers first. You CAN NOT build a brand on the foundation of doubt or insecurity. Your story will NOT be believable and will crumble and burn fast, trust me!

Things to Consider when creating your Personal Branding Package:
- Personal style (Does your clothing, hair and makeup accurately reflect who you are?)
- Demeanor (Does your attitude and swagger exude your true self?)
- Confidence (Are you presenting yourself in a strong, but humbling manner? Are you confident in your abilities?)
- Ambition (Are you displaying your go'gettem attitude?)
- Eagerness (If you are eager for knowledge and willing to take the necessary steps to achieve your goals, people will give you a chance.)
- Passionate (Passion should be the driving force behind your actions. Passion will alleviate fear and will propel your desires to step out on faith to dare to be great!)

How do you create your Personal Branding Statement?
Once you have answered the questions above, then you are almost there. Once you know who you are, what you want and have created a strategy to do so, then you've answered your own question. Those answers ARE your personal branding statement. You are selling yourself. Every time you attend a networking function, a meeting, a lunch date, etc. you are marketing yourself. The question remains, are you accurately selling the person you really are???

I will give you a personal example of MY Personal Branding elements. *Note: No 2 statements are exactly the same, because NO ONE can be me. However, you may see similar elements in other people, but no one can be an exact duplicate of me or you!

J.Styles Personal Branding Elements:
- I am a Professional Coach and Founder of The FAB Network.
- I love creative industries (fashion, arts, beauty, and entertainment).
- I love helping people with their career aspirations.
- Accessories and make-up are my MUST-HAVES! Those combined are my WOW factors!
- I am outgoing, personable and genuine.
- My PASSION will get me in the door and my determination to be great will keep me there!

What are your Personal Branding Elements?

Once you have created your personal branding package . . . how can someone else LOVE you if you don't even know what makes you special?

Having an internal Personal Branding Package that can be externally displayed at any time, gives you that competitive edge between being considered average versus exceptional . . . which one do you want to be?

Be confident. Be passionate. Be you.
